The Palmaira Story

Palmaira Sandals was launched in 2013 by Lisa & Tracey (the Founders) who wanted to bring a fashion-led twist to the traditional Avarca sandal and introduce it to the UK.

Lisa & Tracey began selling Palmaira’s on a market stall in London’s Spitalfields. A few years later a Vogue magazine feature led to an overnight boom, the rest they say is history as the brand and the business took off at a great pace.

For those of you who have followed the journey of Palmaira Sandals Australia, you will know that Palmaira Sandals Australia was brought here by two sister-in-laws (Jenn & Gem).

Rewind to 2013, Jenn & Gem were back in the UK for Jenn's wedding and first discovered Palmaira Sandals. They just knew Australia would love & appreciate the craftsmanship of an authentic Avarca which to earn it’s stripes needs to be certified by the Menorcan Government and wear it’s tag of approval (seen on all Palmaira's). So, Jenn & Gem approached Lisa & Tracey, and consequently brought the brand to the Australian market. 

Early 2014 Jenn & Gem brought their first 40 pairs of Palmaira's to Australia and started selling them to friends & family through Facebook, markets & Palmaira Parties (like Tupperware parties). As they started to grow organically, they created their own unique designs, colour mixes & plays on fabrics to suit the Australian Palmaira Girls.

Palmaira Sandals Australia hit its tenth year in business in late 2024, and Jenn & Gem have had some incredible highs and lows during that time, including Palmaira Sandals Australia being awarded runners up in the Australian Telsta awards.

As we approach the end of 2025, it’s time for a new journey for Palmaira Sandals Australia.

Palmaira Sandals Australia has a new owner, who isn’t only passionate about the exceptional quality workmanship and design of Palmaira’s, but will continue to keep the rich heritage of the traditional Avarca at the heart of the Palmaira brand.

Palmaira Sandals Australia will continue to strive to provide exceptional customer care, ensuring every step of the process is an experience.
